Emergencies that require dispatch of a Technical Rescue team occur infrequently yet pose the highest safety risk to both victims and firefighters. Decatur Fire staffs Technical Rescue Technicians 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. These technicians are also a valuable resource for training other firefighters seeking technical rescue skill sets.

• High angle rope rescues                       

• Marine accidents requiring the Surface Rescue Team                      

• Confined space emergencies                        

• Heavy machinery and transportation incidents 

• Members of the Technical Rescue team also participate in FEMA's Urban Search and Rescue Team (USAR).

• The TRT continues to build relationships with business and industry and regularly participate in cooperative training education programs at Decatur's Regional Fire & Police Training Center.
